OUR LATEST CATCH

Nine tracks that sound like Jumbo Shrimp: playful arrangements, unexpected turns, and plenty of New Orleans spirit. The record includes five originals by bandleader Colin Myers and contributions from eight guest musicians. Expect New Orleans jazz, unexpected musical detours, and enough surprises to leave you floundering.

02 / A SHORT HISTORY OF BAD PUNS AND GOOD MUSIC

IT STARTED

on royal street

Colin Myers started Jumbo Shrimp on Royal Street in the French Quarter during the summer of 2009, with trombone, banjo, bass, and drums.

What began as a street band developed into a longtime fixture in New Orleans clubs, especially The Spotted Cat on Frenchmen Street. Traditional New Orleans jazz is our home port, but we've been known to drift into R&B, surf rock, swing, funk, and just about anything else that floats our boat.

We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we put plenty of mussel into the music. Every show is different, every tune is fair game, and we're always looking for new ways to make waves. Cod help us.
