      <image:title>About - Colin Myers - Band Leader/Trombone/Vocals</image:title>
<image:caption>Colin Myers grew up in a suburb of Detroit called Northville in a household filled with the sounds of classic rock and Motown. He studied Music and French at Kalamazoo College. A life-changing study abroad experience in Senegal, where he took drum lessons from a master drummer, helped to expand Colin's understanding of rhythm as well as the relationship music can have with community and movement. It set him on the path towards playing danceable music in New Orleans. He first came to New Orleans in December 2006 on a volunteer trip to rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. While building houses during the day, at night and on weekends he would take his horn to Jackson Square, the French Quarter, and Frenchmen Street and sit in with whoever would let him. He became hooked on the danceable, joyous energy of the music. Little by little he started to familiarize himself with New Orleans jazz and soon started getting called for gigs. Colin formed The Jumbo Shrimp Jazz Band in 2009 as a Royal Street busking group. Eventually they started playing at Fritzel's European Jazz Pub and then later at The Spotted Cat Music Club. He’s also played with Treme Brass Band, The Loose Marbles, The Dukes of Dixieland, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Sasha Masakowski, and Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses. Colin draws particular inspiration from: Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Jelly Roll Morton, Jack Teagarden, Trummy Young, Jacob do Bandolim, Chopin, Maurice Ravel, Bach, Ella Fitzgerald, Annette Hanshaw, Allen Toussaint, Fats Domino, Trombone Shorty, King James and the Special Men, Davell Crawford, Aurora Nealand, Vusi Mahlasela. “When I started playing New Orleans Jazz, it was as if I had come home somehow. This was the music I had been looking for my whole life. It's danceable, it's energetic and joyful, and it's inclusive because so much of it is pop music from another era.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Mike Fulton -Trumpet/Vocals</image:title>
<image:caption>Mike Fulton was born in Seattle,WA, but his parents moved around to Indiana, Maryland, and New Jersey before returning to Seattle when he was 12. Mike’s mother was an accomplished accordion player and his grandmother encouraged him musically by playing Louis Armstrong and Harry James records on her old Victrola. He started playing trumpet in the elementary school concert band and continued playing throughout grade school. While in high school, he got an opportunity to play with a youth big band directed by Fred Radke, the former lead trumpet of The Harry James Band. He studied music at Central Washington University, eventually taking gigs on cruise ships and in a touring musical theatre company. He moved to New Orleans in 1999 to play on the American Queen riverboat. He then joined The Dukes of Dixieland for 7 years. After a year-long stint playing in a show at Universal Studios Osaka, he returned to New Orleans and joined The Jumbo Shrimp Jazz band in the spring of 2010. “I couldn’t have more affection and deep respect for these dudes as people and as wonderful musicians. I look forward to continuing this musical journey with these fine chaps.”.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Dr. Sick - Violin/Vocals</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Sick was born and raised in Buffalo New York. He started playing the violin when he was 4 years old. He began by studying the Suzuki Strings method, was then in public school orchestra, The New York All-State Jazz Conference for two years, then briefly studied guitar and film score composition at Berklee College of Music. He left Berklee in 2000 and moved to New Orleans to study bluegrass violin as a street musician. He then spent eight years in Austin, TX, before returning to New Orleans in 2011 and has been gigging and touring steadily ever since. He’s played with PoDank String Band, Grain and Demise, Sextette, The Late Greats, Sick's Pack, Asylum Street Spankers, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Finer Things, 3 Redneck Tenors, That Damned Band, Mazel Tov Cocktail Hour, 999 Eyes Freakshow, and countless other bands. “When I moved back to New Orleans, I would go to Frenchmen and introduce myself to the bands, sit in for a couple songs if they'd have me, sip a beer, and leave. With Jumbo Shrimp, I'd end up staying until the end of their set because I just genuinely found them more amusing than some of the other acts.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Russell Welch - Guitar</image:title>
<image:caption>A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Russell's musician father would sneak him into blues jams as a kid. He studied jazz at Jackson Public Schools' Academic and Performing Arts Complex and with Jackson's local jazz guitar virtuoso, Barry Leach. He went into the Jazz Studies program at The University of Southern Mississippi where, as a junior, he was selected "Outstanding Soloist" at the nationally prestigious University of North Texas Jazz Festival. He also studied in Belgium with gypsy jazz guitar master, Fappy Lafertin. A family connection brought Russell to New Orleans and since then he's been playing and touring with numerous bands including: Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns, The Hot Club of New Orleans, Neva Wright and the My Bads as well as his own critically acclaimed band, The Russell Welch Hot Quartet. "It’s all about time, feel, groove, and support. The reward is that great flying feeling when the band is swinging hard." -Russell Welch</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Simon Lott - Drums</image:title>
<image:caption>Simon Lott hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He started playing music when he was 11 years old because he felt it gave him a release from pain. He studied drums privately with various drummers, mostly learning from watching others play and listening to recordings. He came to New Orleans for a few gigs and felt like it was a great place to make a living as a musician. In addition to playing with The Jumbo Shrimp Jazz Band he also plays with Robert Walter's 20th Congress, The Charlie Hunter Trio, Germaine Bazzle, Very Cherry, Skerik's Maelstrom Trio, Will Bernard, and Roland Guerin. Simon is inspired by a wide variety of artists, including: Public Enemy, Salvador Dali, El-P, Aesop Rock, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Frederic Chopin, Joan Miro “I think Jumbo Shrimp is a really interesting combination of genres. It’s always fun and relatable music!”</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Paul Thibodeaux - Drums</image:title>
<image:caption>Paul Thibodeaux comes from Luling, Louisiana; a little town just outside New Orleans. As a kid he was drawn to low brass instruments after seeing his older brother play the trombone in Mardi Gras parades. Naturally, the obvious choice for a scrawny 5th grader was to play the sousaphone! After a few years of lugging and whomping, Paul went with his gut and took up the drums and cymbals. He studied at NOCCA and then at UNO. When he’s not playing with The Jumbo Shrimp Jazz Band he’s been known to play with The Masakowski Family Band, Magnetic Ear, Mike Dillon, Aurora Nealand, and Nicole Johaenntgen. Paul draws inspiration from: Johnny Vidacovich, Danny Barker, and Alvin Batiste. “One thing about Jumbo Shrimp is that Colin doesn’t tell anyone how to play. In fact, he encourages and clearly enjoys when his sidemen go off on a surf rock tangent in the middle of a piece written in the twenties. This has developed into a bag of tricks the band frequently uses for spontaneous arrangements and a more surfy repertoire.”</image:caption>
